A group of New York survivors spoke with the US Department of Justice about our experiences with the NYPD SVU. Based on these interviews and evidence provided, a new federal probe is looking into the systemic ways victims of sexual assault are regularly failed and re-traumatized through the department’s antiquated practices.

VAWA Town Hall
The Violence Against Women Act provides life-saving resources for victims of sexual violence. This year, the act is set to expire. And several members of Congress oppose its reauthorization. The National Organization for Women arranged a Town Hall for survivors to urge Congress to save this important bill. Our stories were featured on NowThis Her, and shared by members of the U.S. Senate.

Meeting with NYPD Commissioner
In January of 2017, the National Organization for Women invited me to speak with NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill, to discuss better treatment for victims of sexual assault.
